Live View Recommended Settings:

First, it’s important to mention that Canon cameras use different ISO and white balance settings for camera mode and video mode. In order to adjust these settings to record a video, it is necessary to override the settings for camera mode and set the ISO and white balance settings for the video and camera mode separately. In order to do so, go to the Globals tab > Canon section and enable "Override Camera Settings:

  • Photo Capture Settings: Auto Focus Mode: Manual; AE Mode: M; Aperture: 7.1; ISO: 400; White Balance: Tungsten; Shutter Speed: 125; Image Quality: Small2.jpeg (S2); Metering Mode: Center-Weighted Average; Exposure Compensation: 0

  • Live View Settings: Auto Focus Mode: Quick; AE Mode: P; Aperture: 7.1; ISO: 6400 or higher; White Balance: Manual (should be set through the camera with Manual white balance in video mode or via EOS utility software); Shutter Speed: Bulb

You can change the saved file and live view presentation for both features in the Globals tab > Canon > Camera Rotation:

Burst Video:

This feature will use the camera’s frame capture and will create a video from it.

Recording Time: Set the recording time in milliseconds.

Frames Per Second: Choose the frame rate of the video recording.

Output WxH: Set the size of the video file (The max. size for DSLR is 960 x 640). The default size is 720X480 (Note: It is not recommended to save a larger file when planning to share the file via MMS, as some carriers may limit the received files).

Recording Animation: You can run an animation while recording a video. You can use a recording animation from the Video_Animations folder (located in C:\MirrorMeBooth\Video_Animations) or add a .png file with your logo.

Number Of Loops in Video: Set the number of times you would like the video to loop in the saved file.

Show Live View: Enable a live-view presentation of your video recording.

Add Boomerang Effect: Check this box to add a Boomerang effect by adding the same frames - in reverse - to the .MP4 file. This Effect will double the length of your video file.

Trigger Next State on Saved Video: Enable this option to wait for the video file to save to the folder before continuing on to the next state.

Enable Record Audio: Check this box to add a sound recording to the video.

Merge Audio and Video: Syncs audio and video track into one file (This file is saved under event’s folder → final videos).

Enable Soundtrack: Add a media file of the soundtrack you want to add to your video recording.

Preview Burst Video:

By adding this feature to our workflow, you can present a preview of the video that was taken. This feature can be at any stage on your workflow, as long as the Burst Video feature was done.

Preview Time: Allows you to control the amount of time (in milliseconds) the Burst Video will be previewed.

Dynamic Overlay Folder: Adding this option will allow your guests to swipe and choose between different folders containing sequences of .PNG image files, that will act as an animated video overlay, or a single folder with 3 or more images that will act as a static overlay. Click the [...] button to load the folder with the overlays you would like to use for this feature

When adding this feature to your workflow, you’ll also be able to enable the retake option. Consider your states order when enabling the retake option for this feature.

Workflow for example:

In the following workflow, we chose to enable the Live View feature, so the live view of the camera will be presented on the screen while the video is recorded, and to send the video to our guests via MMS.

* For best results, you can add an external LED constant light.
** If the live view is too dark - try to change the aperture setting on your camera from F7.1 to F4.5
